In the women’s November All-Star team, four players came from Pölkky Kuusamo, which won all three of its matches that month: setter Annie Cooke, opposite Megija Dambrehte, outside hitter Aliyah Carter, and middle blocker Jenna Zydlo. Also included were LP Viesti’s middle blocker Ella Autere and libero Emmi Riikilä. First-time selections among these are Cooke, Carter, and Zydlo.
In the men’s All-Star team, Hurrikaani-Loimaa was the only club with two players: Joel Laakso as setter and Panu Salmijärvi as libero. Player of the Month Sirjakovs was naturally the opposite hitter. Outside hitters selected were Aleksi Muukkonen (Savo Volley) and Sakari Mäkinen (Akaa-Volley), while middle blockers were Tomas Bukacek (Kokkolan Tiikerit) and Matt Gentry (AC Oulu Volley). First-time selections include Sirjakovs, Muukkonen, Bukacek, Gentry, and Salmijärvi.
For Sakari Mäkinen, this was already his 13th selection in a distinguished career. Among men, only Mikko Esko (24), Olli Kunnari (21), Tommi Siirilä (15), Urpo Sivula (14), and Matti Oivanen (14) have more.
Players of the Month have been chosen since 2003, and this was the 141th selection. All-Star teams have been named monthly since 2010.
