Kerttu Kilpinen Named First ViaePro Player of the Month in the Women's Mestaruusliiga Season

04.11.2025

Puijo Wolley's outside hitter Kerttu Kilpinen has been selected as the VitaePro Agile Player of the Month for October in the Women's Mestaruusliiga — essentially the league's best player of the month. Puijo Wolley won all six of its matches in September–October, and Kilpinen averaged 12.5 points per match with an excellent attack efficiency of 46%.

For the 19-year-old Kilpinen, this was the first Player of the Month award of her career, as well as her first selection to the Team of the Month.

The first VitaePro Agile Player of the Month in the men's league will be selected only after November, as the season started at the very end of October.

Players of the Month have been selected in the Mestaruusliiga since 2003. The Team of the Month has been chosen monthly since 2010. The selections are made by the head coaches of the Mestaruusliiga teams.

October’s Team of the Month in the women's league featured an unusually high number of newcomers — five players were selected for the first time. Only Puijo’s setter Liina Räty and libero Veera Help had previous “experience” in the team, both being selected for the fourth time.
The other Team of the Month players are LP-Vampula’s opposite Kristina Bozovic, Kilpinen’s fellow outside hitter Annika Koivuniemi from LP Kangasala, and middle blockers Ella Peltomaa from Puijo and Nelly Kinnunen from Pölkky Kuusamo.

The average age of the star seven is likely the youngest ever, with even the oldest players (4 in total) being just 20 years old, two players aged 19, and Koivuniemi only 17.
