The 23-year-old outside hitter Bridgette Smith helped Pölkky Kuusamo win five of six matches in November, four of them on the road. In these mostly straight-set matches, Smith averaged 14.3 points per game and attacked with nearly 50% efficiency. She was also a cornerstone of her team’s reception in every match.
Joel Laakso, as setter, guided Hurrikaani-Loimaa to a flawless winning streak. Hurrikaani has won all eight matches this season with maximum points, six of them in November while dropping only three sets. Laakso played virtually every match from start to finish, proving himself among the league’s elite in his position night after night.

The women’s November All-Star team includes three players from Pölkky Kuusamo, three from Puijo Wolley, and one from JymyVolley. Outside the clear top two teams, only JymyVolley’s setter Anna Kohutova earned a spot. From Pölkky, Smith was joined by opposite Megija Dambrehte and libero Netta Laaksonen. Puijo contributed outside hitter Ada Aronen and middle blockers Ella Peltomaa and Taija Tikka.
For Netta Laaksonen, this was already her 12th selection. Only Hillaelina Hämäläinen (26), Viktoriia Tuchashvili (20), Tiiamari Sievänen (16), Dubravka Rakic (15), Kaisa Jokinen (15), and Roosa Koskelo (13) have more career selections among women.
In the men’s All-Star team, Hurrikaani-Loimaa claimed four spots: setter Laakso, first-timers outside hitters Viktor Viljamaa and Takumi Kameyama, and middle blocker Juho Kaunisto. Opposite Antti Ropponen from Akaa-Volley was named for the 10th time in his career, while Savo Volley’s Tommi Siirilä earned his 15th selection as middle blocker. Libero Ville Sihvonen from Raision Loimu made his debut.
Players of the Month have been chosen since 2003, with this being the 140th selection. Monthly All-Star teams have been named since 2010.
Selections are made by the head coaches of Mestaruusliiga teams.
